Legislative Representation

The MLTA has full time registered lobbyists located directly in Lansing. They are there, on the ground, watching out for MLTA’s best interests by working to advance our specific policy goals and employing defensive tactics when legislation or regulatory efforts could harm our industry.  Additionally, our lobbying team provides a behind-the-scenes analysis related not only to legislative and regulatory initiatives, but also to the political climate and future trends.   MLTA is our industry’s representative voice and our resource for state government regulation and legislation on areas that affect our industry.

Political Action Committee (PAC): the PAC committee works to facilitate and fund the representative and legislative efforts of the MLTA by developing and initiating fundraising programs to generate personal contributions from MLTA members to the MLTA-PAC Fund.

Professional Designation

Members have the opportunity to earn the designation of “Associate Land Title Professional” (ALTP) or “Certified Land Title Professional” (CLTP).  These designations represent the highest measure of achievement in the land title insurance profession and provide recipients with recognition among their peers as someone who has demonstrated proficient knowledge of land title insurance and escrow procedures.

Website

The MLTA website, www.milta.org, offers an electronic membership directory to all its members, and serves as a guide for the public in locating a respective title agent member.  Past Education Event materials, and sometimes videos are available to our membership.  Past issues of the Title Examiner are also archived on the website, in addition to information for upcoming events and seminars.

Community Outreach – Public Service

Through volunteering and recent fundraiser campaigns (MLTA Gives), there are a variety of opportunities to engage with our communities by providing service and/or outreach. Additionally, through a nomination process spearheaded by the Public Service Committee, we are very proud that the MLTA selects “community organizations” whose focus is residential home placement for those in need.

Member Driven

Title professionals from all over Michigan come together with a common focus; working together as a family to reach our goals.  We encourage each member to join an MLTA Committee and be involved.
