Another Successful Capitol Day for MLTA

In early May, MLTA held its legislative advocacy day where members got an opportunity to meet with their legislators and share information about the association. We had a great turnout of MLTA members which helped to make our day a success!

Because of the number of new legislators and staff serving in the House and Senate this year, MLTA’s messaging focused on:
? How MLTA is a valuable resource to state officials
? What title insurance is
? Recording and priority of real estate documents
These topics helped us to establish a solid foundation of information from which we’ll be working from with the new legislators over the course of their upcoming years in office.

We kicked off our legislative day’s activity with a pre-briefing for MLTA members. This is when members received their legislative meeting schedule for the day. We also discussed important messaging points to share with legislators and staff.

Following the round of morning meetings, MLTA hosted a luncheon at the Capitol where association members were able to talk with legislators about the industry.

After the luncheon, MLTA members completed their afternoon schedule of meetings. An important part of concluding the day’s activities included the members providing feedback from their meetings through the MLTA survey process. In addition to that feedback, members also shared with me follow-up notes and e-mails that they received from legislators and staff expressing their appreciation for their time and efforts in Lansing.
