Tom Lico, MLTA President-Elect
In the last issue of TitleBytes we reintroduced to you the Public Service Committee and mentioned that we would be expanding our financial outreach to additional home related charities. In addition to our annual donation to Habitat for Humanity of Michigan, we have added Safe Haven Ministries, Friends of Foster Kids, and Homes For Our Troops.
At the November 12 Board Meeting, the Board presented a $2,000 check to Kent Bosma, the Director of Development for Safe Haven Ministries based in Grand Rapids. Safe Haven offers residential services to women and their children who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse.
After the lunch break at the November 14 Fall Education Seminar, Dave Moldovan (Chairman of the Public Service Committee) presented a $2,000 check to Theresa Toia of Friends of Foster Kids (FOFK) located in Macomb County. FOFK provides a “Christmas” for foster children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect. They have also expanded its service to lend a hand to those who have aged out of foster care at age 20 with no family and no place to live but are still in need of assistance.
Before the year’s end, we will be delivering a $2,000 check to Homes for Our Troops of Michigan. Their mission is to build and donate specially adapted custom homes in Michigan for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans to enable them to rebuild their lives.
It is important to MLTA that we give back to our communities and appreciate your support in these initiatives.
