November’s General Election held many unexpected results for members of the state House of Representatives. It was widely expected that the Republicans would hold their majority in the House, but by a much slimmer margin than what they currently have this legislative cycle.
You’ve read the warnings: “Don’t wire funds in response to an email without using call-back procedures!” In other words, call the party who appears to have sent the email at a known, safe phone number and confirm that they actually sent the email.
There are those in our industry that come in each day, do their jobs and go home. Then, there are those in our industry to strive for more—to push themselves to become more involved, to seek more knowledge and to lead by example. One of the ways this is accomplished is by earning the highest designations available for title insurance professionals at the state and national levels.
2016 has certainly proven to be an exciting and busy year for the Michigan Land Title Association!
On March 18th the newly developed “Legal Description Basics Bootcamp” was presented to a packed house at the Kellogg Center in Lansing and proved to be a huge success.
We held our 2016 Legislative Lobby Day on April 12, 2016 in Lansing where MLTA members met with various Michigan House and Senate members to help them understand two very important bills that we wanted to see passed. Our efforts were rewarded with both bills being passed into law this year!!
